New year’s resolutions

To be wise enough

To be strong enough

To be brave enough

To be hungry enough

To be full enough

To be resolute enough

Goodbye, my friend.

Rosie Vs. Trump

What you are missing is that they are in fact the same person. Has anyone ever seen them in the same room at the same time? Nope. Rosie is just Trump when he turns his wig on backwards.

Goodbye, my friend.

Strange multi-cultural America

If you have worked under an American corporate hierarchy, you would probably know buy now that we do not allow saying “Merry Christmas” anymore and people are asked to say “Happy Holidays” instead, but when you walk into our office, you will only see a Christmas tree and stockings, no Menorah, No lit crescent moon, or Buddha incense filling up the air. And since all these religions have holidays at the same time. Hanukkah, Eid-Al Aha, and The Chinese New Year. Why does a country who claims to be one that honors and encourages multi-cultures and religious freedom, literally passes by all other holidays unnoticing them, ignoring them, not even including them on public calendars or corporate ones for that matter. Not sell cards for them, or be wished to have good ones for them by news anchors, weathermen, bosses or president. You know what country does?? Singapore. You get days off for the Muslims, Christians, Chinese, and Jews. When will America truly live up to it’s claim?

Goodbye, my friend.

i ate

One of my most favorite childhood memories is sitting down on the floor in grandmother’s house in the qaseem province in Saudi and having deep fried, salty dthab fat for the first time. I think I was 10 years old and she thought the best way to introduce me to my ancestors cuisine is to let me eat it first and THEN let me know what it is. I enjoyed it, I enjoyed it hugely but then I asked what it was and then she told me. I crave it to this day. And I have seen it get cooked alive like a lobster, and I have also seen it get served while it still has not died completely.

the ungrateful guest.

I love food. I love tasty, light, articulate food. I hate presentation if it is un required. if you cut a blob of water melon in a shape of a stake. I hate that. I love food that is not so much functional to function but pallet filling. I love the difference in pallets people have and hate the disrespect of other people’s pallets. Don’t call something “puke” or “shitty” unless you are eating puke and shit. If someone has the courage and dignity to cook, bake, blend something for you. Appreciate their effort but show respectful criticism if you hate it. They went throught the length to make something for you after all.
